Meth Testing Procedure

Equipment and Supplies

1. Arrive with Roller Kit, Table, DocuSketch, wastebasket, folding chair. All these together make it easier to do the testing.

The Kit contains:

  • Front Pocket: Notepads, Pens, Sharpie

  • Second Pocket: Multiple Folders:

    • Meth Testing Procedures

    • Sticky Labels for Vials

    • ALS Forms

    • Biohazard Posters

    • PuroClean envelopes

    • Blank Sticky Labels for Vials

  • Large Compartment

    • Alcohol Wipes

    • Vials

    • Vial Holder

    • Box 6mil Nitrile Gloves

    • Push Pins

    • Blue Tape

    • 1-Gallon Zip Lock Bags

    • Roll Paper Towels

    • White Wastebasket Bags

    • 2 Cloth Rags

    • Templates – 25 cm2

Do The Following Procedure in this Order:

2. Photograph the outside and the PuroClean vehicle.

3. Set up Table and chair and wastebasket, identify rooms to test.

4. Fill out Chain of Custody:

  • Top of page, “REGULAR Status” unless told otherwise

  • 2. Date (Today’s Date)

  • 5. Sample Collection

  • Sampling Site: Customer Name

  • Date of Collection: Today’s Date

  • Date of Shipment: Today’s Date

5. Request for Analysis

  • Client Sample Number: Number (start at 1), Room (e.g. Kitchen; Bathroom; Bedroom…).

  • Matrix: Always Wipes

  • Sample/Area Volume: Always 100 cm2

  • ANALYSES REQUESTED: Meth always unless office wants other tests done

  • Units: Always ug/100 cm2

  • Lab Comments: Leave Blank

6. Fill out 25 cm x 25 cm Templates – 4 per room/entity:

  • Sample Number

  • Room

  • Room Location (e.g. North, etc…)

7. Fill out vial labels first; attach to vials after:

  • Number: Sample number, from the Chain of Custody Client Sample Number

  • Location: Kitchen (for example)

  • Project: Customer Name

  • Date: Today’s Date

8. Tape or pin four Templates per room to test:

  • Painted surface preferred

  • North, South, West, Ceiling

  • If popcorn ceiling, use headspace above the entry door for the Ceiling sample

  • If wall, place template at eye level.

9. Tape on four Templates for kitchen cabinets.

  • Label 1, 2, 3, 4 – Kitchen Cabinets.

10. DocuSketch property:

  • This will include the template locations

11. Photograph Templates on the wall:

  • Distance photo for reference

  • Close up of template

12. Wipe test all rooms, change gloves after each room.

13. Remove Templates.

14. Package CoC in envelope (Attn: Meridith) and Vials and place in gallon Ziplock bag:

  • CoC should NOT be expedited normally

  • If Fentanyl to be tested, make sure that is added to CoC column

15. At FedEx, use cardboard box “small,” if two or more test sites being sent, use “medium” box.

  • Normally ship 2-day air, never Saturday delivery.

  • If there are multiple test sites, see if you can fit it in a single box

  • Credit card is on file, should not have to pay on the spot
